Bulb subglobose to ovoid, 3.5–7 cm broad; false stem absent or up to about 1.5 cm high. Leaves 3–12, 15–30 x 1.5–2 cm, narrowly lanceolate or narrowly oblanceolate, fleshy, glossy green above, slightly paler and somewhat glaucous beneath, with smooth edges. Peduncles 1 or 2, subterete or compressed, arising lateral to the leafy axis, 8.5–25 cm long, up to c. 1 cm broad. Inflorescence 1-flowered. Flowers large and white; perianth tube much shorter than the segments. Capsule subglobose to ovoid; seeds angular with a thick, black testa.
