A large, much-branched tree reaching 25–30 m in height, characterized by a thickened base with prominent buttresses and roots. The young branches are densely covered in fulvous (yellowish-brown) pubescence. Leaves are imparipinnate with a thick, pilose rachis approximately 25 cm long; they typically bear 5–9 leaflets. These leaflets are broadly elliptic or oblong-oval (10–15 x 3–6 cm), subcoriaceous, and distinguished by conspicuous yellow veins and a subcordate base. Stipules are shortly stipitate and rotundate-sagittate, but they are deciduous and leave behind distinct scars.The inflorescence consists of green flowers arranged in terminal panicles on short, stout pedicels. Male flowers are numerous and crowded, featuring a cup-shaped, 3-lobed calyx and 3 imbricate petals that are pilose on the outside. There are 6 erect stamens inserted on the disk
